FAQ's

How does laser tattoo removal work?

The laser delivers very short pulses of high intensity light into the treated area. The tattoo inks and pigments then selectively absorb the light without destroying the normal surrounding skin tissue in the process. The tattoo is dissolved into smaller ink particles that are harmlessly removed by your body's immune system in the weeks following treatment.

How long does the process take?

Laser treatment usually does not take more than a few minutes, depending on the density of the ink, size, pain tolerance, how many color(s) of the tattoo, your immune system, skin tone, and type of ink.

How many treatments does tattoo removal require?

Removing a tattoo is a fading process that requires a series of treatments scheduled four to six weeks apart. Black inks usually respond more quickly than bright colors because they absorb the light better. The depth, color and amount of ink, as well as the location of the tattoo on your body are all determining factors in how long and how quickly we will be able to get your tattoo off. Most tattoos can be removed in six to twelve treatments.

Does tattoo removal hurt?

Pain tolerance varies widely between individuals and depends on which part of the body is undergoing the treatment.  We use a cooling system during the procedure, to reduce pain. We recommend that non aspirin products be used before treatment.

What can I expect after the treatment?

We recommend elevation of the area treated and limiting exercise or heavy activity for 24 hours. Keep the area clean and covered.  Avoid sun exposure, or hot showers.  Aquaphor or Neosporin are recommended to help with the healing process. Do not pick any blisters or scabs that may occur.

Will my tattoo be removed completely?

In most cases tattoos are completely removed. The depth, density and colors are the biggest determining factors.
